We had our kitchen cabinets painted a very light gray, almost white and if brighten the kitchen up so much you need sunglasses in there. It's such a feel-good thing to do since you spent so much time in the kitchen. I'm in the Bridgeville Delaware area so if you need anything kind of painting and these folks know people that do everything so that your One stop shop or whatever you want.
